The Nissan Figaro

In 1991 Nissan produced a most extraordinary car. The Nissan Figaro. This unique vehicle was part of the "Pike" series of retro styled cars produced by Nissan between 1987 and 1991. The "Pike" series also included the Be-1, Pao, and S-Cargo van.

The Figaro's retro styling is accentuated by liberal amounts of chrome, from the bumpers to the boot hinges. But retro doesn't mean outdated. This stylish city car sports a 987cc turbo charged engine boasting a reasonable 76bhp at the front wheels, and three-speed automatic transmission. Creature comforts include a retro-styled CD player, air conditioning, all-white leather-trimmed interior, and canvas roll down top.

Upon announcing a production run of only 20,000 units, Nissan was swamped with orders and had to run a lottery to allocate the vehicles produced. Now these stylish retro vehicles are arriving in the UK as used Japanese imports. They make for fun and fashionable motoring.
